Antique 7 Piece Set Of Round Carved Iridescent Black Shell Buttons With Starburst Design & Steel Shank With Star Cap

A set of 7 antique round buttons measuring 5/8" in diameter.

These were likely carved in the late 1800's to very early 1900's.

They are carved out of black iridescent mother of pearl shell with shimmering colors retail of purple, pink, green and blue. You may see even more colors depending on the lighting.

The design is a carved starburst pattern of radiating lines from the center with a carved ring near the outer edge.

The front center has a steel star on the end of the wire shank which runs ther the back and is bent into a loop.

The fronts are nicely polished and the backs have a soft sheen mostly in black with hints of the iridescence peeking thru.

Some wear is visible. The steel stars could use a bit of polishing and the backs show a bit of wear. They are lovely regardless and are ready to use. Please look over all of the photos.
