This is a vintage large Shetland Sheepdog figurine from Japan. The measurements are approximately 10 inches long from back paw to nose and 6 inches tall from paw to top of the head. The Shetland Sheepdog, often known as the Sheltie, is a breed of herding dog that originated in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. The original name was Shetland Collie, but this caused controversy amongst Rough Collie breeders of the time, so the breed's name was formally changed. Shetland sheepdogs are known for their gentle, sweet retail, pleasing personality. They are also playful and affectionate, all traits that have made them popular family pets. Breed experts often comment that Shelties like to please; coupled with their intelligence, it is no wonder they excel at obedience training. As for all vintage pieces, they come with wear due to age over time. I do not polish any vintage pieces, so please expect spots and light scratches. Condition: Excellent, no flaws noticed.
