Before crock pots, the trick was to create bakeware and such that could withstand the retail long time required to heat a meal, and then the abrupt temperature change when it was time to eat. Inferior products would crack, break or shatter. The technology at the time of this stunning piece was such that this example is what would have been cutting edge for its time!
