A handmade wood carving representing a woodcutter. Made in the 1980s in Quebec City and signed by the artist, Alain Flamand.

As you can see, an item (probably an ax) is missing from the hand, but it is nonetheless a fine sculpture!

Wood carving is one of the many traditional arts in Québécois culture. Sculptures retail are mostly made of basswood, butternut, white pine, white oak, poplar or sumac.

They are entirely made by hand, and making a single sculpture requires hours of hard work.

It is a unique piece of collection and a must have if you have interest in folk art!
