Breton-Style Big Bowed RED Hat - 1970's retail

The 'Breton' (or Bretonne) hat first appeared on the fashion scene retail way back in the late 1800's and has literally stayed on the scene up to the 21st Century, with some variations along the way.

The style features a rounded, sculpted crown fitted to the head with a and a deep brim that is turned upward so the face of the lovely lady is exposed. Through the decades of the 20th Century the Breton 'concept' of the upturned brim continually made a come-back, from the Downton Abby era in the early years to the Mid-Century Era when John Lennon and other celebs began wearing a more casual version of the Breton.

This Wonderful RED wool/felt Breton with a BIG double bow trimmed-out in shiny sewn-on sequins, is a fantastic hat with all the great features of the traditional Breton of eras-past.

The hat measures about 7-1/2"- 8" across the inside of the rounded crown, and the brim about 12" by 10".
