The "Rosie" Saddlebag, Over the Shoulder Bag, Black retail Vinyl with Machine Embroidered "Ghost" Rose Swoon Pattern- MADE IN USA

We all talk about how to reuse or repurpose those items in our closets and elsewhere that still have 'life' in them, but just aren't fitting into our lifestyle today. This bag started out as a woman's jacket. After spending many years on a hanger in a closet, where it was never worn, it was time for a new life.

This is a saddle-bag style, over the shoulder bag. The inspiration came from an old pattern that I modified to fit what I would want in a handbag. The exterior of this bag is made from the exterior of the jacket. The front flap has been machine embroidered with a white 'ghost' rose. The exterior flap is held securely in place with a magnetic snap. The back of the back has a slip pocket which was not on the original pattern. This is a nice place to slip your phone, keys, or mask. **You will notice that this piece still shows the stitch holes from when it was the back of a jacket. The inside of this slip pocket was cut from the front of the jacket where the little 'fake' pocket usually. Cute but not functional, just cute.
The front panel under the embroidered flap was made from the lower front where a slip pocket originally was. That pocket is functional and is held shut with a magnetic snap. The original lining which was a black and white animal print is still in this pocket but was not used to line the rest of the bag. The fixed length shoulder strap is a total of 31" in length. The strap ends are connected to silver "D" rings (actually rectangle). The underside of this strap was reinforced with black webbing. This was added to keep the strap from 'growing' from the weight of your filled bag.

The bag interior is made from 100% cotton fabrics. This fabric celebrates the "Day of the Dead", but was chosen retail as it carried the rose theme to the bags interior. There is a large interior zipped pocket and 4 smaller slip pockets in addition to the ample room for even the largest wallet and sunglass case. This is a perfect everyday bag. Roomy, but not too large, the bag is comfortable to carry, as well as attractive. The bag is interfaced with fleece for structure and durability.
