1947 French Signed Watercolour Painting, A Beautiful Depiction of an 18th Century Couple in retail Their Finest Period Costume, Ink & Watercolour

This is so charming!

A beautiful vintage French ink and retail watercolour painting sourced from a brocante here in southern France.

It is framed with a wooden frame with a gilt border and glazed. The painting is dated 1947 and signed Marguerite .....

It is very competently painted using ink and watercolours and depicts a wonderful 18th century couple in their finery, powdered wigs and all.

I love their faces, just a few strokes of the brush and they are beautifully defined.

I had to take the back off to re-seat the picture so I know it is simply painted on a sheet of paper pulled from a large book!

Height - 12", 30.5 cms
Width - 9.4", 24 cms

Condition - Signs of age. The paper has some yellow marks and a small tear on the rhs. (It was torn from a book.) The back is taped with masking tape as the little metal prongs will no longer hold it in place. The frame is slightly too wide for the painting - so the price is for the painting with the frame free!
