HISTORICAL DETAIL

One of the most popular brands of the mid 20th century, Sarah Coventry was founded in 1949 by Charles Stuart and was named after his granddaughter and the name of the town in England from where the Stuart family had emigrated.

Stuart purchased designs from freelancers then hired firms such as De Lizza and Elster to create its chokers, necklaces, bracelets, brooches and earrings. The jewellery was then sold via house parties similar to the way Tupperware was sold.

Sadly Sarah Coventry was sold in 1984 after filing for bankruptcy.

Today it's pieces from the 1960s and 70s are especially appreciated by Collectors.
