Oval Hand Painted Porcelain Bowl Antique Art Nouveau Royal Munich Bavaria Vintage 1900
Measures 12 inches long x 5 ¼ inches wide x 1 ¾ inches tall
Very good vintage condition for a piece 120 years old
This is a truly beautiful Oval Hand Painted Porcelain Bowl from the art nouveau period produced by Zeh, Scherzer & Co (Z S & Co.) of Bavaria, circa 1900. Signed by the artist Guinard. Beautifully hand painted roses decorate this dish. Soft white and peachy cream background, wide gold accenting at the retail rim and in the interior around the roses. The center of the roses are also gold. This 120 year old piece is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There is some gold loss on the rim mostly on the underside. See photos. There are no scratches on the surface of the porcelain. It appears to have been a display-only piece. Backstamps: "Royal Munich Hand Painted" and "Empire Z S & Co”. The well-known green version of this stamp was used between 1880 and 1918. This piece would be lovely for use on vanity or displaying soaps in the bath.
