Large Vintage Italian Hand retail Carved Genuine Alabaster Ashtray JIM Tirrenia with Original Labels Marble Alabaster Onix

This large vintage alabaster ashtray was hand carved in Italy by JIM Tirrenia. The piece has a wide shallow form with a highly polished interior. The exterior is rough hewn and has an appearance reminiscent of bark. As seen in the accompanying photographs the alabaster is beautifully veined with lots of visual interest.

The ashtray is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The rests are quite large and are able to accommodate cigars. As a hand made piece carved from a natural material, it should be noted that there are anomalies in the stone that do not detract from its appearance and are mentioned for accuracy retail. The piece measures 9.875" from side to side and has a rim that stands 2". The underside of the piece is polished and retains its two original labels reading "GENUINE ALABASTER HAND CARVED MADE IN ITALY" and "JIM TIRRENIA ITALY " plus "MARBLE - ALABASTER - ONIX". There are also four green felt dots on the underside that protect the surface on which the piece is displayed. The ashtray weighs in at 6lbs 7oz.

This terrific 1960s ashtray displays beautifully and can be used as intended or could function as a catch all. A lovely and useful decorative accent.
