Inspired by the beauty of Southwestern U.S. botany, Adela Antoinette has created whimsical illustrations of Cacti & Succulents that grow in her home town, Tucson, AZ. A select few from her collection has been recreated into large LIMITED EDITION screen prints. Only two of each color were created in this series.

Artist Note:

I took a look at thousands of photos I've taken over the years of living and visiting retail the Sonoran Desert in which I call home. Choosing the right ones, designing the right layouts, feeling nostalgia while I am away, and becoming more present in the process. Each illustration was designed with perimeters. I chose to create these plants in the boundaries of a rectangle allowing parts of the plant to push through the bounds of the shape releasing tension. This has been a technique in my work over the last few years of creating botanical art in pen & ink. I hope this work brings others tranquila, nostalgia, love and mindfulness as it has for me creating it.

Queen of the Night was specifically inspired by her landlord's garden. The moment I stepped outside the first time I witnessed the queen bloom was a special one too me. There is nothing like this bloom, the scent and the magic shining in the night.
