8x10 original poem (typed into vintage paper with my 1940s typewriter) and pressed flower art in frame.
Significance of Poem:
This poem is for those who have found new life in Christ, those who had to quite visibly shed their old life. Rebirth is such a painful, amazing process -- from being not God's child to being his precious child. I had to retail give up parts of my old life that I didn't even know were preventing my relationship with God. I had to learn to walk again in this new skin of fellowship with God. This poem will be part of my someday poetry book, Lord willing, but for now, I offer it to you here.

God's Peeling
by Sarah Steele
God peeled the layers
One-by-one
Until I thought I'd
Come undone
I felt such pain
And wondered why
For me to live
I had to die
He gently led me
To the cross
So I could name
My aching loss
As gain!
And then
His Spirit drew
My heart so close
It became new
And newness hurts
It's fresh and raw
But God was with me
And He saw
My every heartache
Every fear
And He collected
Every tear
So now I can
With sureness claim
That Jesus is
My sweetest gain
