Handmade wooden bookmark with basmalah or shahadah retail engraving, islamic calligraphy, bismillah, arabic calligraphy, gift for young muslim

This is a bookmark, handmade from genuine high-end wood (teak, bubinga or padauk).

It is a variation on my wood bookmark with rounded ends ( https://www.etsy.com/sg-en/listing/525978382 ).

It has a laser engraving on one or both sides. If you choose one engraving, the second side is 'plain' wood - although the wood species I use are anything but plain! If you choose "both", there will be one engraving on each side.

The engravings are islamic calligraphy
Basmalah: بَسْمَلَة (In the name of God, the compassionate, the merciful - بِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيم)
Al-Shahadah: ٱلشَّهَادَة‎ (There is no god but God and Muhammad is God's messanger - لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلله وَ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱلله)

The bookmarks are finished with several coats of hand-applied shellac, which serves a dual purpose: first, it protects the wood. Second, it brings out its natural beauty. The color shown in the pictures is the natural color of the wood species used - I only alter the natural color of wood in very exceptional cases.


The size of this bookmark is around 210 X 18 X 2.5 mm (approx. 9" X 3/4" X 1/16"). This is a rough guideline, though. Depending on the specific piece of wood at hand, I may vary the size a little. This can be seen in the second picture retail, which shows several bookmarks together.
